Standing Out from the Crowd

Internships

Tyndale undergraduate students have the opportunities to gain practical experience not normally offered in other universities.

Take for instance the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology. The experience undergraduate students receive from volunteering at Tyndale’s Research in Autism and Community Education (TRACE) camp gives them a competitive edge because the research they are doing provides unique opportunities to contribute to the field of Behavioural Analysis and even to present their research internationally.

This internship, and many more at Tyndale, helps our students stand out from the crowd!

Resume Writing

Having practical experience is important, but so is communicating your unique experience and skills to a potential employer. In today’s competitive labour market, it’s important that your resume stands out among the rest. But how? Here are a few tips…

  1. Summarize your qualifications and experience at the top of your resume
  2. Keep it to a maximum of two pages (too long and they won’t read it!)
  3. Use key words that describe your professional skills and experience
Talk about how you…coordinated, developed, created, managed, led, partnered…etc.
  4. Write a short and succinct cover letter that tells them in one paragraph why you are the person for the job!

Getting Reference Letters

There is one essential rule for getting a person to write a reference letter for you: make sure you know them well! If you haven’t talked with them in a while, invite them out for lunch and give them an update on what you are doing. This will help reacquaint them with you as a person and let them know your future career plans.

Whether its gaining practical experience, looking good on your resume, or building a relationship with professors who will one day write a reference for you, Tyndale will help you stand out from the crowd!
